  7.     Someone please stop the clock! PETER MAX surely exceeded
  8. his 15 minutes long ago. Continuing his relentless acts of
  9. self-promotion, Max opened an exhibit in New York City's SoHo
  10. district last week featuring his own painterly renditions of
  11. "classic beauties," including the Mona Lisa and the Statue of
  12. Liberty. On hand to drum up publicity for the event: supermodel
  13. and children's book author PAULINA PORIZKOVA. "To take someone
  14. else's masterpiece and turn it into your own, I admire that,"
  15. said Paulina, who became the recipient of a 30-second Max
  16. portrait executed on her T shirt. Justifying the premise for his
  17. new show, Max offered the following piece of twisted logic:
  18. "It's nice to reinvent an image. If Da Vinci and Picasso were
  19. alive today, they'd be on MTV."
